KinderPram

Ages: 4-6   –  Parent/Guardian required – no drop offs

Friday June 21, 28, and July 12 from 4:30 - 6:30pm

Fun with a little bit of sailing….  Kinderpram is an easy introduction to sailing at our lakefront. Kids enjoy entertaining activities targeting rudimentary sailing skills both on and off the water along with a parent or guardian. This unique program will be a safe, interactive experience requiring one adult parent or guardian to accompany each student enrolled.

Class size -10 students maximum

Kids will join their guardian or OLSS instructor for a comfortable ride in our safe, simple dinghies along our quiet lakefront.  While ashore, groups will rotate through activity stations which include fun nautical lessons, games and crafts. 

Example Stations

1. Seamanship: knot tying, rope coil races, rolling sails, boat part label game

2. Teamwork: Bailer races, boat scavenger hunt, human knot, life jacket race, water relay

3. Sailing: Launching, sailing out while steering up down, “3t’s: tack-tiller-toward sail”, landing

4. Crafts: Drawing sailing experience,

 

Other Requirements

•One parent or guardian per child to be actively involved with supervising and assisting the OLSS staff with the program.

•Student and guardian must each bring properly-fitting Coast Guard approved life jacket

Class will be held, rain or shine.
